First off, *Eyes bug out at all of the comments in my last journal.* You yell out that there's a art theft and it's amazing how many people come running. It's been a long time since I've gotten that many coments on a journal. Also the winner of my 20K, well no one sent in the screen shot so if anyone is still interested I might still dosomething if they snap a screen shot of either 20,100 or close to that. If not, we'll just wait till 30K or something like that. No biggy.

I've been wondering this for a long time, but if I were to start offering commissions here on line, would anyone be interested in commissioning me? It would probably be basic things like portraits at first.

I'm doing ok, but in my search for a steady job that won't ask me to change my college schedual, things are starting to get tight.

As far as a few changes go, many of you have watched my art work for a few years and may sense these changes coming. I want to be an illustrator and have used DA as a way of teaching myself what I like to see, what works in art, and not to mention it has been great to get feed back. Telling me in my work what works and what doesn't.

As it is, my gallery has become a farely eclectic fantacy place. I don't draw strictly dragons or horses or blue pocadotted flying giraphs chasing cubes with wings. The problem is that my gallery lacks what is really needed in the world and level of art I want to reach.

So as a resualt fo me spending hours, sitting on the floor of Barns and Nobel with a stack of book in the childrens' section, I've realized I need to brauden my horizons. particularly with images of children. My pixy and ladybugs [link] is hopefuly only the befinning as I work to build new pieces of my portfolio.

If you want to learn to draw children, then observe them from real life. I've just recently learned how to draw them and all I did was looked at some pictures at getty images for inspiration and I then figured that what makes children look like children is their chubby cheeks :D

Good luck with 'broadening your horizons'... you're braver than I :D I can definitely see the illustrative side of things coming through, in fact it's always been there :) it's probably one of the broadest fields in art, in terms of a career. So it's a good way to go.

Also good luck with the commissions! It's tough because there aren't really many places online to get commissions. I still can't find anywhere other than DA, lol. There is a 'job' section in the forums here, is worth keeping an eye on in case someone is advertising for illustrators!

*Nods* Chubby cheeks has a lot to do with who make children look like children. I'm slowly develuping some other things too like the way they stand. At the moment, my mom got a lady from where she works to give her soem pictures of her grandchildren to work from. That's helping a lot.

It really isn't particularly how they stand other then a lot fo children are in motion when they are standing or fiddling with their fingers. Little things like that.

Thanks. *Crosses fingers* I know I've got a few friends pulling for me on what I want to do.

And I'll have to check out that job section. So far I don't think there's anyone here wanting commissions from me. No one even tried for my 20K page view a little bit ago. lol. So it seems I can't even give my art away on line here. I do have one commission I'm working on right now of a body builder and his girl friend. I guess they do those body building competitions. They asked me not to post it on line but it probably is going into my portfolio. Plus they are letting me keep images of them on file for future refrence.

So at least I have that to bring in a little extra cash.

DA is the hardest place to get any kind of commissions. I know that much! We need an art sales website dammit! If only there were an ebay-type place specifically for art buyers/sellers.

Congrats on the commission you got... I think sometimes word-of-mouth away from the internet is the best advertising!

*Nods.* The only problem is that with art sale sites that they have out now, they tend to ask for a bigger fee.

Thanks again. Word of mouth is working better here right now.
